Sanpete County Emergency Management
Goals and Programs
___________________________________________

Our Primary Goal is to provide the residents of Sanpete County an agency
to protect life and property during natural or man made disasters.
Whenever there is an event that requires more response than is normal or routine, it is called a disaster.

Sanpete County Emergency Management Programs
The four phases of Emergency Management are addressed by our programs

·         Planning

·         Mitigation

·         Response

·         Recover

We have an active Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)
this group of public safety professionals and private sector volunteers meet regularly to update operations plans, response plans, and provide public awareness of hazards and preparedness issues. We are always alert to local hazards and have completed a flood hazard analysis, and are presently engaged in preparing a wild land fire hazard analysis.
We have a newly completed Hazardous Material Response plan. Our operations plan includes such things as evacuation and shelter procedures, communication procedures, a resource manual, Emergency Operation Center activation procedures, Public notification (emergency Alert System) procedures, and much more. Recovery from a disaster can be a complex and lengthy process, assistance from state and federal agency's are usually required, procedures for requesting this much needed assistance are specified.
